This category recognizes youth who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and service in promoting diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging in their community or school.

Key Areas:
- Leadership in DEI initiatives – led or co-led a project, event or program that addressed issues of inclusion, representation or accessibility
- Impact on Underserved or Marginalized communities – tangible, positive outcomes for communities often overlooked, such as ethnic minorities, 2SLGBTQI+ youth, people with disabilities or others facing systemic barriers
- Education and awareness efforts – organized or promoted training, workshops, speakers or campaigns that helped raise awareness about bias, equity or inclusive leadership
- School or community culture change – fostered a more welcoming environment within their school or community, such as creating safe spaces, revising policies or advocating for more inclusive practices
Candidates will be scored using the following criteria:
- Took initiative to lead or co-lead a meaningful diversity, equity or inclusion-related project, campaign or event
- Promoted learning or dialogue through events, training, storytelling or advocacy around DEI topics
- Demonstrated real, measurable benefit to communities often underrepresented or facing barriers. Impact can be local or broader
- Demonstrated ongoing involvement and personal commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion over time – not just a one-time project
- Used creative approaches (art, media, tech, storytelling) or built strong partnerships with external organizations or individuals
- Contributed to lasting shifts in attitudes, practices or culture with a school or community
- Provides ongoing leadership, direction, encouragement and support
