Gian Franco Soquena is 17 and attends Tamanawis Secondary. He created the Inner Light Foundation, focussed on mentoring kids aged 10-13 to eliminate isolation and powerlessness, creating a stronger community, where each person has a sense of belongingness, contribution, and purpose. He also volunteers for Empowered, to educate others about domestic violence, and raises money for women who are victims of genocide. He is a member of “Anomaly” which focuses on health awareness and environmental issues, participated in the school exchange program with students from Taiwan, and is a member of the Surrey Leadership Youth Council. Gian is an embodiment of leadership, innovativeness and service.
